Native American Origins 
The original natives of Yucaipa were Serrano Indians, who have passed down a love for nature and the outdoor activities which are still celebrated by the locals today.  As this city's history dates back to hundreds of years, so do the traditions. There are practices such as basket weaving and rope making, taught to the students in school as extra-curricular activities. In the same way, the Serrano language, history, music, and ecology has been preserved very carefully.

Yucaipa Performing Arts Centre
The locals have always been proactive in participating in community events. In recent years, the Yucaipa Performing Arts Centre has become the main outlet for locals to express their love for the community and the cultural history it represents. The Yucaipa Music and Arts Festival, Winter Fest, and Autumn Fest are some of the major events hosted here. Local and cultural art can be seen here on full display. 

Seasonal Festivals
Summer is the busiest season of the year for the residents of Yucaipa as festivals and events here encourage a number of outdoor activities. Some events that have become staples of this season are the Fourth of July celebrations, summer concerts and drive-in movies at parks. Winter in Yucaipa is celebrated through the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Annual Winter Festival. Holiday music, food, and craft vendors swarm the streets of Uptown District.
